This quiz again based only on Tamil songs.
1) This famous singer has acted in a number of movies too. In one movie (A) in which he acted as the hero's father, he rendered his voice to the hero in a song B. Interestingly, in a song (C) in which he appears along with the hero, the female singer is his real-life daughter. Who is the famous singer, what is the movie A and what are the songs B and C?
2) In a movie (D) for which the music director and the producer were the same as that for movie A, he acted as the heroine's father. In that movie, he rendered voice to the two guys who are in love with the heroine in a song E. What are the movie D and the song E?
3) Another movie (F) - same music director + producer combo and the singer this time acted as the hero's father. He appears in a song (G) along with the hero, and renders his voice for the hero but his part in the song is rendered by a singer from the North (H). What are the movie F and song G and who was the singer H, who to the best of my knowledge, is the only singer to have rendered his voice to the famous singer?
4) In a movie (I) released in the same year as the movie D (with the same music director), the hero of movie A appeared on a double role. There was a duet in the film involving both the roles of the hero and the two heroines, for which the credit was given to only one pair of male and female singers. In real, another pair of male and female singers had sung the song from the second charanam (stanza) onwards. Who are the four (two male and two female) singers who rendered their voices for the song?
5) In cricket, we have seen one bowler completing the over of another bowler if he is injured in the middle of an over and is unable to bowl. In a movie released in 2005, there is a superb duet, which is meant for the hero and heroine in the movie. In fact, disappointingly, that song wasn't picutirized at all. In that song, just after the second charanam begins, one female playback singer abruptly takes over from the other in the middle of a line and goes on to complete the song. What are the movie, and the song and who are the two female playback singers? (Clues: The producer of the movie has been producing movies for over 20 years and his son debuted as director in 2008. The hero of the 2005 movie is the son of a famous multi-faceted actor-director and his performance in the movie was so unlike him. The villain in the movie acted as the villain in a famous tamil movie released in the same year and in a recent hindi movie with the same name).

Possible singer : SPB
Possible Hero: Prebu deva
Possible Producer : AM Ratnam
Possible Music director : AR Rahman
Ramya, your answers D, E, F and G are right. H is not. Though your guess for H sang another song in the movie, in the song G, another famous singer rendered his voice.
In the first question, the female singer is the real-life daughter. Added a note in the post too.
About the last question, it is indeed a male-female duet, but due to the 'intervention' of the second female singer, there happen to be one male and two female singers for this song.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ramya, nope.. that's not the name of his daughter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yours truly, all your answers A to I are right.. Hopefully the added clues for qn. 5 would have made it easier now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nagesh, well-tried. Out of ur four possibilities, three (except the producer) are right..
1. A = Kaadhalan
B= urvasi uravasi
C = Kaadhalikkum Pennin
SPB and his daughter Pallavi
2. Kadhir's Kaadhal Something - Enai Kaanavillaye netrodu
3. Rakshakan, Lucky Lucky, Udit Narayan for SPB
4. This would be ofcourse Mr Romeo, Mellisaye? Hariharan, Harini, Udit, who else?
5. So you are referring to Kalaippuli Dhanu, Bhagyaraj and their sons - that much I could guess. Was it Udhaya, 2005 movie? Udaya Udaya Ularugiraen?Hariharan, Sadhana and who else?
yes got it...1st and 3rd clue gave it away :) the song is uyire en uyire ennavo nadakkiradhe from thotti jaya. 1st charanam by anuradha sriram and bombay jayshree takes over and it goes back to anuradha sriram and ends with bombay jayshree again. Producer Kalaipuli thanu (din know he has been producing for 20 yrs!!!) whose son Kalaprabhu debuted with Sakkrakatti. And the villain is Ghajini's villain (dont know his name)
2) D - Kaadhal Desam
E - Ennai Kaanavillaye...
3)F - Kaadhalan
G - Kaadhalikkum Pennin...
H - Udit Narayan
Will try others after seeing if above are right :)
Raj, guesses 1 and 2 are right. For 3, you also got it wrong on the North singer who sang for the famous singer. For 4, the song is correct. The singers are none of those whom you mentioned. For 5, the producer is right. Sorry for the confusion about the son of a multi-faceted director. The one you mentioned debuted in the 2008 that I gave as clue, but the one that I mentioned acted in the 2005 movie. Interestingly, many people compare the lives of the two multi-faceted directors in terms of their talent, marrying an actress, political career, running a magazine, and now, having sons who can dance pretty well. In fact, the songs to which the two songs danced (in different movies released in 2008) are considered to be among the top 3 of the most famous dance numbers of 2008. :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yours truly, u got it.. :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Balaji, D and E are correct. F to H are wrong; but F and G are the answers for A and C. Your guess for 'H' is the same as what Ramya and Raj guessed. Though the singer you mentioned has been used regularly (and unfortunately)by most tamil music directors, the singer who is the answer for H has also sung some tamil-killing songs, out of which the most (in)famous one is confusing 'piriyamana ponnu' as
periyamma ponnu'. ;)
2nd try :)
A - Kaadhalan
B - Gopala Gopala...
C - Kaadhalikkum Pennin...
3) F - Ratchagan
G - Lucky Lucky...
H - Sukhwinder Singh
4) I - Mr.Romeo
Mel Isaiye...
Only 1 pair so far - Unni Menon, Swarnalatha
5)Thotti Jaya, Yaaridamum...
One singer so far - Harini
oh ok Appo Hariharan instead of Udit.
So, it is our good old Chimp. Got confused a bit. TR's primary identity should be actor-director no? When you say producer, I am thinking of AM Ratnam, Dhanu...
Ok, so in 2005, It was Manmadan? What song? Not much of a YSR fan so I dont know.
Oh Shucks I know - it is not Manmadhan but that Harris Jayaraj one in which he replaced YSR right? Whats that one? Now let me see...ah yes Royapuram's own Thotti Jaya!
This was relatively an easier quiz than before. Where is your killer trump card 80's questions, which only select few can answer ?:-)
A)Kadhalan
B)Errani Gorathani Gopala
C)Kadhalikku pennin
D)Kadhal Desam
E)Anbeeeeyyyyyyyy:-)...Ennai kanavillaye
F) Ratchakan
G) Lucky Lucky
H) Sukwinder Singh
I) Huge guess: Unnikrishnan Sujatha/Unnimenon Swarnalatha(audio has this pair?)
5) So lost in the film/music scenario of today. Not the crazy fan I once was... can't guess. I know you must be talking about Kalaipuli S. Thanu, since his son debuted in 2008(Sakkarakatti). I know second film is Ghajini. But...:-)

(Do I get a prize for breaking my head over this?:-))
Balaji, all are right, except for the last one. I must accept that there is a confusion regarding this one. I just read from your review for the last movie that you mentioned the absence of one song and the running-in-the-background of another song, which is actually the answer to the question. In the version that I saw, I dont remember to have watched the song in the movie. Even in youtube, there is some uncertainity about the song.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Raj, the answer for H is not the one you mentioned the second time either. A bonue clue: the letter 'H' appears in both the first and last names of this singer.
You need to read the clues again to clear the doubt on producer vs actor-director. Your answer for the movie in which song (5) appears is right. What is the song and who are the singers?
LOL at 'Killer trump card' 80's questions.. I dont wanna sound old u see.. ;)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kajan, all ur answers A-I are correct, except for the male singer who sings the second part of the song in question (4).
I know that the movie in qn.(5) would hardly be remembered among the hits of 2005, which include some big names; but this movie has some good songs. The one in qn. is especially a superb melody.
LOL on ur request.. If you give me ur address, I will send you a parcelled biryani/fried rice/pav-bhaji, whatever u like.. ;)
LOL,
Are you talking about Uyire En Uyire from Thotti Jaya...
Rajender is the actor/director... but who remembers him being famous for his films:-) I liked listening to the album(this melody and a good folk), but the song was so badly picturized, wasn't it just played in the background during train scenes(?) that its not a remembered one by most.
How about I make a serious request? I don't know if it is a coincidence, but only 2 days ago, I had downloaded "Thinam thinam un mugam ninaivinil malaruthu" from Thankai Or Geetham and was reflecting on the great talent that flickered away. What a tune, what creative and catchy orchestration(still have SPB's second interlude 'tham tha theem' in my head, and simple yet poetic and meaningful lyrics. And I have heard some other popular numbers, though not all his albums. Everyone writes post ridiculing the man. How about one pointing out his musical talents? Anytime you want. You deserve it for that 5th question:-)
-kajan
Raju, yes, got it now. Didnt read the clue earlier properly.
Now, The song is Uyire En Uyire. Singers I dont remember. Mahalakshmi? Karthik? Anuradha Sriram?
Sorry it is Bombay Jayashree right?
And the NI singer is ofcourse Sukhwinder Singh. How did I miss this one?
Phew! such an easy quiz and missed out.
U r a great quizzer..
I knew for sure that the singer is SPB and one of the movies is Kadhalan. Other than that I had to peek in the comments section!!
Aaha., enna oru payanulla aaraichi
!
Kajan, believe it or not, I am a big fan of (early) TR's lyrics. Thanks for the idea... I will soon write a post along the line that you suggested..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Raj, 'uyire en uyire' was sung by Karthik, Anuradha Sriram and Bombay Jayashree. I cant explain Bombay Jayashree's taking the song from the middle by anything other than one of the following two reasons: It is common for music directors to have more than one singer sing a song and then choose who is better suited for that song. Remember 'Unakkul naaney' from PKMC in which two different singers (Bombay Jayashree and Madhusree) had separately rendered their voice? The other reason is that Harris Jayaraj might have considered Bombay Jayashree's voice to be lucky, so he abruptly brought in her voice in the middle of a line.
Ramya, :) Thanks a lot..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aparna, hmmm... Will try to include 80's songs in teh future quizzes..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vijay, all in the name of the game... Idhellam room pottaa yosippanga? Thaana varradhudhan...
Wow, there is really much worthwhile info here!
