Krrish

Papa Roshan always has something special for his son. Like their previous two movies, Krrish too is an out-and-out entertainer, which has something in it for everyone.

As many of you are aware, Krrish is a sequel to ‘Koi mil gaya’ and Hrithik plays the first official Indian super-hero. His role and actions remind us of Superman, Spiderman and Batman (even Neo of Matrix and our own 'Anniyan')..The ‘conflict’ of the movie has been inspired from the brilliant and intelligent ideas of ‘Paycheck’ and ‘Minority Report’. Enough for the story…

The screenplay is very tight, racy and nicely woven.. There are some loopholes in the story but then which Indian movie doesn’t? There is humour, love, sentiments, action and heroism blended very well to make it a feel-good masala movie. It isn’t as moving as its original but fares better than what most sequels have managed to do. The story has few twists and they appear quite late in the movie, making the climax a very hurried affair.

Hrithik is back again with a powerful performance.. He looks very handsome with long hair in the three different costumes he uses. That he is maturing well as an actor is exemplified here as well. He carries the movie well on his strong shoulders. Priyanka Chopra does her role of dancing and romancing OK. Naseerudin Shah is as usual reliable. I wish he got more screen time.

Technically very sleak too.. Santosh Thundiyil’s cinematography is excellent.. whether on the beautiful natural locales of Leh or in the amazing Singapore, his camera matches the energy of Hrithik. Rajesh Roshan delivers some nice hummable tunes as usual; and this time he has added some South Indian flavor in a couple of the songs, probably to target the audience in Southern states. Stunts are in grandeur scale too, some of them reminding us of Anniyan.

A great movie-watching experience, that is if you are willing to forgive the crew for their various inspirations.

Nag, well.. then 'Koi mil gaya' and the spiderman, Batman, etc. are also for kids.. mm.... you have changed in the period b/w KMG and Krrish, and so Krrish is a kid's movie... huh? ;)

Aravind, welcome here..

Yeah, logic is best to be forgotten while watching movies like this.. I enjoyed most of the movie, so no complaints..

good to hear that hrithik has given a good performance, he desperately needed this.i didn't really like Koi Mil Gaya, for it was like ET, but I might watch this movie just for the action sequences. another test match drawn, atleast india didnt lose. btw, did you check out kabhi alvida na kehna trailer, it looks a lot like the english movie Closer. Wats up with all these hindi directors remaking old hindi movies like Don, Sholay, and taking story ideas from hollywood. Hindi movies are really deteriorating, they need some good directors from the south, hopefully maniratnam's guru clicks there.

Nitin, mm.. KMG and Krrish have the common thread of supernaturalism but hopefully the special effects and stunts are good enough for you to like the movie..

About the test match: I think India will face baptism by fire in Jamaica.. another tantalizingly close victory chance converted to draw.. Now, I would say that, had it not rained, India would have proably won this game..

I saw the trailer of 'KANK' and shots from a few songs.. Songs are good, though they have a 'Kal ho na ho' hangover.. Hope Karan Johar has created some magic.. I am looking forward to the movie, since it was shot in NYC.. I havent seen 'Closer' yet so no comments..

In the 'IIFA Awards' function, a few directors pinched our moviemakers that they are getting 'inspired' a little too much of late..

4th test seems to be going fast, wickets falling steadily. I think there is no Indian team without Rahul Dravid, man, he is just too damn good, when the whole team is in trouble, he is the only one staying out there, and getting some runs. Other members of the team should learn from this guy, he doesn't give away his wicket easily. anyways, wat u been upto Raju?

yeah, the top order srilankan batsman are in great form, atleast one of them have socred a hundred in every match, and wow, jayasuriya reminds us of the jayasuriya in the 96-2000 period. sachin recently scored a hundred, hopefully all these great players come to good form one last time for the world cup. India finally has won the last test, all credit goes to rahul dravid and kumble. others have not done well in the last test.

Nitin, Glad that we won the series at last.. It is better to take this victory with a pinch of salt.. Kudos to Dravid, Kumble and Bhajji..

Nag, not only has he confirmed his berth.. he has made the oppositions to take (again) serious note of him..

All I can say is, the forthcoming tournament in srilanka would be very exciting...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Deepak, yeah.. liberally copied from Superman.. The flying sequence, etc. But, the Roshans knew how to give Indian touch with the typical masala ingredients.. so it is enjoyable..

Ponnarasi, LOL... I agree with you.. Myself and my wife said that he dances 'too much' but he is one of the top dancers in the Bollywood now.. Seen his dance in 'Main aisa kyun' in 'Lakshya'?

yeah, main aisa kyun hoon in lakshya which was choreographed by prabhudeva was great, there is an ad with hritik roshan for hide'n'seek biscuit, and he dances well in that too, although he shows that he is flexible, he doens't have the capability to dance in romantic songs.
