5 People You Meet in Gym
1. Muscular Men - Guys with little soccer shorts.
They are the real macho ones..the 'Bouncer' material. U can recognize them not only thru ur sight but thru your auditory - due to their "arggggggghhss" while weightlifting.
2. Wanna be models who don't work more than 5 mins
They'll come in long fitting clothes with navel exposing slits. And, oh yeah , they also come to gym wearing makeup.
3. Skinny guys and gals
You wonder why the heck they come to gym, and all of a sudden u pick up on ur self conscience and start doing xtra minutes of workouts.
4. Monotonous ones
Those who go, workout, shower, and leave..they dont flirt around. They look constipated working out and they wear damn loose clothes.
5. Mega serial gang
Aunties and uncles in 60s. They come to gym only to catch up with their buddies and bitching abt each others family matters.
PS: My 'Current fav video' changes now.. to 'Meenamma' of 'Aasai'.. It is among my 'All time favorite songs'. I love this song for the following reasons:
---- The beautiful backdrop of Himalayas
---- Great chemistry between the pair
---- The dancing by Raju Sundaram's troupe of two behind a screen
---- Melodious voices of Unni Krishnan and Anuradha Sriram
---- Different picturization : The romance moves from wild (when Ajith throws a big snowball on Suvalaxmi at 00:41 seconds) to soft (the huge checkered sheet on which they are lying and talking starts sliding.. 2:25); the Roman costume (1:30) the Hare Krishna guys dancing to the tune towards the end ...

the wanna be models also stand in front of the mirror and stare at themselves in every angel possible.. :P
The muscular men not only make noise when they lift weights, but also stand ard other men who are lifting weights and make the same noise. When I asked someone about this, they said it was for 'emotional support.' jus seems very gay to me :P

Confused, LOL.. I have never observed such morale-boosting muscular men..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
J, those chatterboxes.. would also include some desis, who use gym as a place for social gathering, discussing desi stuff, in desi languages..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Siva, yeah.. peter-ku ellsm koraichaley irukkadhu.. ;)

Aparna, I belong to none of these categories; may be if someone observes me, can write like this: Those who bring portable DVD players to gym and get totally engrossed in the movie, sometimes smiling, sometimes controlling the laughter and sometimes looking so glum after watching a movie. These 'trying-to-be-professional' gym enthusiasts walk around holding a book in which they log in all their weightlifting exercises as if it matters.. :)
Raju, was wondering if you have checked out this video, from the movie Ellam Inba Mayam, song is Solla Solla Enna Perumai, good song, dance and funny.

Nitin, yeah i have seen it being discussed in the blogosphere.. Being impressed by that, I even watched the movie recently.. Thanks for the link anyway..
How is ur life in New York? Are you done with your summer internship? Do let me know if you are still here..
Hey Raju,
I tried working out at gym while watching dvd, I failed to concentrate on the movie :(
Any other tips ?
Anon, good to know about someone who is trying to follow my suggestion.. :)
Initially, it might be a little hard.. Try to get engrossed in the movie.. All the initial pain in the legs, and tiredness would go away if you choose very good movies to watch initially.. Good luck!!
why long time no new post?
what about the ones on the cell phones.. ??running on the treadmill and yapping loudly!! argh!
hello?
enna sir? where are u?
I've been looking around for a suitable dvd player. but all seem a little big for placing on my elliptical machine. Do you have a suggestion? Thx.
-kajan
ping? busy?
Anon, Aparna, Deepak and J, yes, I am back.. Hope to post as frequently as before... Thanks for all your enquiries.

Priya, after long time..
Cellfone yappers.. oh yeah.. Talking with literal 'loss of breathe'..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kajan, I have a Phillips DVD player with 7" (or 7.5") display, which fits perfectly on the 'Life Fitness' elliptical machines, which can be of two kinds. Not once in the last 16 months has it fallen off.. I recommend that piece also for its flexible viewing of the screen.. Some players' screens get 'locked' in a certain angle, making the image less than perfect..
